Matt Baker composed the original score for Theresa Heskins’ energetic 2024 production of The Three Musketeers at the New Vic Theatre, creating a cinematic musical world to drive its sword fights, comedy, romance and high-octane adventure.
The score was singled out by critics for its atmosphere and cinematic quality.
Northern Soul described Baker’s soundtrack as “impressively filmic”, praising how it “rises, and falls, to the occasion”. Yeah Lifestyle similarly highlighted the production’s “atmospheric music and sound effects”, noting how beautifully the sound complemented the action on stage.
The production was praised as “a proper Christmas treat” and a show that delivered on its promise of adventure, with Baker’s score an integral part of its pace, atmosphere and theatrical impact.
